Skinny Camera

Digit Online

Casio has released the Exilim Hi-Zoom EX-V7, which the company claims is the thinnest digital camera to offer a 7x optical zoom lens. The lens doesn’t protrude from the camera’s body, enabling the unit to be only 25.5mm thick.

Get your Bond on.

Sprint MOTO Q

:: LAPTOP Magazine • Sprint MOTO Q ::

Sprint customers who have been lusting after the MOTO Q can finally get their hands on this sleek and affordable smart phone. Other than a different paint job and one especially convenient app, this edition (available online mid-January and in stores mid-February) doesn’t really stand out. However, you get plenty of features—if not much speed—for the price.

And since they won’t be getting the iPhone any time in the next year or two it may be the best thing available on the Sprint network.

Palm Treo 750

:: LAPTOP Magazine • Palm Treo 750 ::

Not long after the launch of the Treo 680, Palm and Cingular are at it again with the introduction of the 3G-compatible and Windows Mobile-enabled Treo 750. It’s the most powerful Treo in Cingular’s PDA phone lineup, offering new and improved phone and messaging features that trump others in its class. But the lack of Wi-Fi is inconvenient, and the relatively high price tag could turn some users off. Still, for mobile-messaging hounds who want a user-friendly device that masters e-mail, Web, Office apps, and PIM functions in a familiar Windows platform, the 750 is a terrific choice.

Rendered oh so boring by the iPhone.

Jack Bauer’s Laptop

:: LAPTOP Magazine • Dell Latitude ATG D620 ::

Weighing in at an even seven pounds, the ATG (All Terrain Grade) D620 weighs nearly two pounds heavier than the non-ruggedized D620.However, this system feels as though it can stand up more punishment than a typical “business rugged” laptop. You get a magnesium-alloy chassis, shocked-mounted hard drive, and high-durability, scratch-resistant paint. The notebook even looks the rugged part with its black pebbled lid and hinges that resemble darkened concrete.

If only they could replace “ATG” with “CTU” you could really turn some heads at the next analyst conference.

HP Pavilion tx1000

:: LAPTOP Magazine • HP Pavilion tx1000 ::

HP makes a credible case for Vista as highly usable even in an ultralight format. The HP Pavilion tx1000 (available for purchase February 28) crams a full suite of multimedia features and even limited Tablet capabilities into an attractive 4.2-pound notebook, complete with an optical drive. It’s not the fastest ultraportable on the block, but you get a lot for your money.

4.2 pounds is starting to seem heavy these days.

Buying Guide: Tablet PCs - Toshiba Portégé M400-S4032 - Review by PC Magazine

Buying Guide: Tablet PCs - Toshiba Portégé M400-S4032 - Review by PC Magazine

The Toshiba Portégé M400-S4032 ($2,200 street) is a terrific convertible tablet PC with a rotating display that makes writing on the screen fun. The second iteration of the Toshiba’s M400 series, the M400-S4032 includes a significantly improved set of components. It’s one of the first convertible tablets to integrate Verizon’s EV-DO wireless WAN, and if prestige is what you’re after, an Intel Core Duo processor is a step in the right direction.

Very sweet.
